Watch DQH on Venture Outdoors this Sunday!

VentureOutdoors This fall we spent a fantastic day with Venture Outdoors hosts, Don Day and Rick Redmon along with cameraman Curt Gantt. They filmed a quail hunt which will be aired on Sunday, January 3rd at 9:00 am on WCOV FOX 20 (central and south Alabama).

Venture Outdoors is a fantastic TV program about fishing, hunting and other outdoor activities. We would like to thank the whole Venture Outdoors team for their efforts promoting our great Alabama outdoor heritage! You can find out more about them at www.venture-outdoors.net

We invited our young friend, Bo Weickum to join in on the fun. Bo knows all about hunting quail over pointing dogs. He is the proud owner of Huck, the English setter and Dot, the pointer who appears on the homepage of our Davis Kennels website.

Welcome Charlie & Libby!

Charlie is a field bred English Cocker Spaniel bred, raised and expertly trained by Emily Williams of Kinchafoonee Kennels of Albany, Georgia. Charlie’s job is to retrieve shot birds and he does it in a fast and exciting manner! Plus he’s a character and is becoming a huge hit with our hunting clients!

Also here from Maine to spend the winter at Davis Quail Hunts is Pal’s Sea Pearl, better known as Libby. Libby grew up hunting quail in Texas and competes in field trials and hunts grouse and woodcock in New England with her owner and our friend, Chris Mathan.

Davis Quail Hunts Welcomes Aaron Lisech

We recently had the pleasure of a visit from Alabama Black Belt Adventures’ Executive Director, Aaron Lisech and his young friend, Daniel Haase. It was Daniel’s first quail hunt. We think he enjoyed it! We are proud to be included on the Alabama Black Belt Adventures website. What an exciting project…we wish them luck in the coming year!

The Alabama Black Belt consists of 23 counties spanning the entire state, with the heart of the region lying between the state’s Appalachian foothills and the coastal plain. The area is known for its excellent hunting and fishing opportunities. Alabama’s Black Belt gets its name from the dirt – a rich, dark loamy soil whose high fertility produces nutrient-rich vegetation.
